I’ve lived in Gainesville my entire life and refuse to go to this Emergency Room. I would rather take the chance of dying and go straight to Denton. When I was 17 they sent me home with antibiotics saying I would be fine... turns out I had bacterial meningitis and wasn’t going to be okay with antibiotics( ended up getting care flighted to Denton Presbyterian and almost immediately after that was sent to Medical City). My most recent experience was when I fractured my clavicle. I spent over an hour in the waiting room and over 4 hours in their emergency room, only to be sent home and told to make an appointment with a specialist. The funniest part is they charged me over $1300 for X-ray that were completely useless( I don’t know much about radiology but my orthopedic surgeon was not impressed).
I'm 31 weeks pregnant and unfortunately had no choice but to go to the ER since it was a Sunday and my doctor's office was closed. I was sick (voice was gone, swollen/sore throat, body aches, chest congestion, coughing up lime green mucus) I'm a high risk pregnancy and can't just take any over the counter medication due to having high blood pressure while pregnant, so I went ahead and went to the ER to be safe. The nurse was super nice, I can't remember his name, but Dr. White made me feel like a complete moron for even coming in. Said I should've called the after hours number for the doctor on call at my doctors office, and belittled me for not knowing i could do that. Funny thing is, he diagnosed me with bronchitis and prescribed me antibiotics, so i obviously needed to come in. After talking to my doctor the next week, she said even if i had called her office after hours she would've told me to go to the ER. His poor attitude and need to make his patients feel stupid for coming in, is unnecessary and unprofessional. Will be going to WNJ in Sherman if I absolutely have to go to the ER again.
I have had several experiences with our local hospital and they have all been positive. All three of my kids were born there and the experience and care for my family were top notch. I have also personally received great care from this facility. The medical staff there cannot be beat, they truly care about the patients. We are lucky to have this asset in our community.
Kristi Rigsby does an incredible job. I have loveThe Sky's The Limit Ballon Festival and I was so glad to see NTMC offering free physicals to our community atheletes this year ! I am glad that we have a community hospital in Gainesville. NTMC did a great job transferring my husband after his last Brain Hemorrhage a few years back. I hope our community will get behind the life saving value of having a local hospital.
We are pulling for NTMC our community hospital; that offers the best in local healthcare and employment for so many in Cooke County. NTMC has a talented group of medical professionals and volunteers. Kristi Rigsby is a first class act and has proven to be an amazing part of our Gainesville community.
